“Ape Handaawa” – A talent show organized by the The Old Girl’s Association of Sirimavo Bandaranaika Vidyalaya, Colombo 07, was held recently at the Kularatne Hall, Ananda College with an audience of over 500 and the show turned a new chapter in the history of the school OGA , making it the inaugural event of this kind. The event was a brilliant success and the audience was amazed with the talents of the Old Girls , who were from diverse age groups but made it a remarkable evening with stunning performance in dazzling costumes.

The present & past principals , teachers together with the families of the old girls were among the overwhelmed audience and the Chief Guest was the school’s very own teacher , Mrs. Senani Colomboge , a loving personality who has been with the school for over decades and even to date , teaching singing & dancing to little Sirimavians.. Veteran Actress/MP Malani Fonseka was also present as the guest of honour and added much glamour to the evening.

Speaking on the untiring efforts of the OGA to make the show a success, Deputy President of the OGA Mrs.Nirmala Kaluarachchi said “It came out to be a tremendous success because of many. The past students willingly came for practices amidst their busy life and enjoyed the practice schedules to the maximum and Samanalee Fonseka being an old girl volunteered to coordinate the event. Indrachapa Liyanage trained the girls in singing, Rashika Prabath choreography, past western and eastern band members got together after many years and brushed up their talents. The committee members of OGA immensely assisted in many ways.”
It was a cherished moment for all Sirimavians who witnessed the talents of their colleagues and applauded and cheered with true spirit for their esteemed alma mater. All proceeds of the show will be channeled towards the development projects of the school funded by the OGA.
