St Servatius register seven-wicket win in mini battle of Nilwala

St. Servatius College registered a seven-wicket win against big match rivals St Thomas’ College Matara in the All Island Schools Under 15 Division One cricket tournament match played at the Jayasuriya grounds on June 30. STC skipper W P S Nishanka’s decision to take first lease of the wicket and put on a defendable score was not achieved with the team struggling to reach 93 in 45.5 overs. T K Samarwickrema scored 16 runs while K N Samaraweera captured 4 wickets for 14 runs.

St Servatius scored the required runs in 24.1 overs for the loss of three wickets with opening batsman G H Y A Maduranga unbeaten on 31 (4×4) and skipper Lakitha Rupasinghe scoring 29 (4×6). U H K Gimhana captured all three wickets to fall for 41 runs.
