Holy Family Convent, Colombo defeated Good Shepherd Convent, Kotahena by 51 points to 36 to emerge Under 19 Colombo North Zone cager champions in the final played at the CIS court on Wednesday.

At the short whistle the Familians were in front with 26 points to 16.

Melissa Dunuwila was on target for Holy Family Convent with 14 points and Yasara Siriwardena contributed nine.

For the Shepherdians, the best shooters were Imeshi Fernando with 13 and Chathuri Liyanage seven points.

The Best Defensive Player award was won by Imeshi Fernando of Good Shepherd Convent, while the Best Offensive Player was Sanuri De Silva of Holy Family Convent. Melissa Duniwila was adjudged the Most Valuable Player.

St.Paul’s win consolation over St. Bridget’s

St. Paul’s Girls School, Milagiriya won the Under 19 Colombo North Zone consolation final defeating St. Bridget’s by 40 points to 21 at the CIS court recently.

At halftime the Paulians held a 23 to 14 point lead.

The best shooters for St. Paul’s were Uvini Kurula and Gayanka Satharasinghe with nine points each, while Avanthi Gunawardena added a further eight points.

For St. Bridget’s Convent, Danika Lopez, Senuri Liyanage and Dishni Gunwardena scored six points each. (BM)
