Aaron John and Samaakhya Gajanayake shine on Beira Lake
View(s):The Colombo Rowing Club Opening Regatta saw a stream of outstanding performances by several of the club’s top oarmen and women,
who took to the water’s of the Beira Lake to determinedly tussle for several titles yesterday.
Aaron John was in imperious form and took the Gordon Armstrong men’s Single Scull race, while in the women’s Single Scull event Samaakhya Gajanayake rowed impressively to claim the President’s Trophy.
In some of the day’s other men’s events Aman Sideek and Uvin Siriwardana claimed the Coxless Pairs, Bilal Hassan and Dulaj Rajaguru triumphed in the Novice Double Scull and Shehan Muthugala and Sajeev de Silva took the Colvin Sirimanne Senior Double Scull.
Pahan Widyalankara and Nathira Wijemanne annexed the Secretary’s Bowl Coxless Pairs title in the women’s bracket, while Janethri Marapana and Vinuri Wikramasekera took home the Coxless Pairs.
