qualities”, Lalith Athulathmudali College – Mount Lavinia earned a high reputation in the Piliyandala Zone for its education as well as their successes in the sports field.

Lalith Athulathmudali College was inaugurated in 1963 as the concept of Rev. Mapalagama Vipulasara Thero with 24 students and four teachers at Parama Dhamma Chethiya Pirivena. Mr. P. Subasingha was the founder principal. Almost two months later, the student population rose up to more than 250 and very soon the school became the most recognized primary school in the area. After one year, the school was shifted to the present premises. Initially the school operated as a primary school. In 1983 they were fortunate to upgrade the school up to Grade Ten.

Today, Lalith Athulathmudali College with a student roll call of nearly 2000 students and 73 teachers is dazzling as a leading boys’ school in Mt. Lavinia. Presently The school observes the Government Educational curriculum and it is functioning as a 1AB school, offering Arts, Commerce, Bio Science and Maths for the G.C.E.(A/L) education. After the services of almost six dedicated principals, the present principal Mr. A.W.Damage assumed duties in 2012. His reliable services brought various successes during his one year stay. He is confident that he can take the college a long way in the path of success.

Since founding, Lalith Athulathmudali College has been healthy in the area of education in the zone, producing good results at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations. Every year a decent amount of students enter universities. Yet, this school has been accepted as a stable school not only through notable results at examinations, but also with successes gained in the fields of extracurricular activities
