My pet

My pet is a dog. Its name is Teddy. It is brown in colour. Teddy can run fast. It barks at strangers. Teddy likes to eat fish and meat and bones. Teddy likes to drink milk. He has four legs and a long tail. Teddy has long ears. He has small eyes. He can bark well.

Everyday Teddy plays with me. My pet wants to live in its cage. I wash Teddy everyday. He has a red belt. I love my pet very much.
It loves me too.

Me and my twin sister

My name is Shafra Sabry. Shafa is my twin sister. We’re both 14 years old and we look exactly alike. That’s because we’re identical twins. Shafa has blue eyes, so do I. And we both have long black hair. When we wear clothes that match, nobody can tell who is Shafra and who is Shafa. It’s funny! Sometimes we can even fool mom and dad and my brother Shafeen. Shafeen is two years older than Shafa and me. He thinks he is great. Shafa and I think he is a big pain.

But Shafa and I don’t agree on everything. For example, I love school. I even like homework. My favourite subject is reading. That’s because I want to be a writer when I grow up. But Shafa doesn’t like the learning part of school. She likes recess and lunch and seeing her friends Hana and Huska.

Sometimes people are surprised that Shafa and I are so different. They think that we should be the same inside because we look the same on the outside. That’s silly. But one thing I have to tell you all is that every person in the whole world is different inside.

Our Activity Day

Our school activity day was held on Friday March 15. The theme was ‘National Treasures and their stories’. All the grades from one to three, took part in the activity day. My class 3J presented the story about the ship SS Great Britain. We were all dressed in colourful costumes. All our parents came to see us. I took part as a girl narrator.

I related the story to the audience. My friends took part as British dancers, the captain of the ship, the storm dancers, wave dancers and other narrators. We had our activity day in the morning, in our College Hall. Our principal, vice principal and all our parents were very happy. We all learnt a lot and we had so much fun on that day.

My school life

The first day that I went to school was a memorable day which I can still remember. I woke up early and with the help of my mother, wore my uniform. Then I drank my milk and had breakfast. I took my bag to my hand. My mother packed the books into it. I went to school with my parents.

First we went to see the principal. My mother and father came to my class to take my admission number. The class teacher entered my name in the register and asked my parents to leave but my mother promised to stay till school was over.

The children in my class looked at me strangely. No one spoke or even smiled with me. I felt so lonely. I thought that I would cry. I saw my mother standing at a corner near the garden. After I saw my mother I felt better.

During the interval, three children came up to me and called me to play with them. Within a moment they became my good friends. We all sat together in the classroom. We discussed and did all the work.

When school was over I bid farewell and left. When I came home, I shared everything that happened with my parents. I was so happy and it was an unforgettable day in my life.

The sun

The sun is a very hot body. It is bigger and brighter than other stars because it is so much closer to us. The sun rises each day and the sky fills with light. In the daytime we cannot see the other stars. Without the sun’s light and warmth, our solar system would be a dark, cold place with no life on earth.

When you see the sun from earth, it looks like a yellow circle. But scientists have discovered that many explosions take place on its surface. The sun is made up of many gases.

Never look directly at the sun. Its light can damage your eyes.
