The Institute of Personnel Management (IPM) redefined the concept of an innovative stall with ‘Blue Men’ at the EDEX Expo, the national higher education and careers exhibition, which was held on January 18, 19, and 20, at the BMICH, Colombo. The IPMs intriguing concept introduced new dimensions to its stall and managed to capture the attention of all visitors to the exhibition.
This year’s EDEX Expo is its tenth consecutive exhibition and brought together exhibitors from over 20 different countries representing a range of foreign universities, local and foreign professional and vocational training institutes along with various local tertiary education institutes, providing education and career guidance to the youth. The EDEX is the only such exhibition to be held in Sri Lanka and is patronized by students from around the country.

One of the main attractions at this year’s exhibition was the ‘Blue Men’ of the IPM which was an intriguing, interactive and innovative concept that encouraged many attendees to stop at the stall to inquire about the various courses offered by the IPM. To add to the interactive and innovative concepts of the stall the IPM also featured an hourly SMS draw as well as a facebook browsing option for participants of the exhibition. Both these options were also very popular amongst the patrons of EDEX and many students were very enthusiastic about taking part in these activities. Among the many that patronized the IPM stall was the Minister of Education, Bandula Gunawardena.

With its unique concept the IPM stall gave itself a boost that also managed to register a fair number of students for the courses it offers. Some of the most sought after courses were the Programme in Career Guidance & Development (PCGD) and Foundation Course in Human Resource Management (FCHRM), both of which are popular amongst A/L qualified school leavers as both courses are designed to prepare the students for the current requirements of the corporate, world ensuring them of better career opportunities.

The IPM is the leading institute in Sri Lanka for providing professional training in human resource management, and is the only professional body in the country for providing such training.

The Institute was established in 1959, and is a professional body incorporated by an Act of Parliament No. 24 of 1976. The IPM is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resource Management and World Federation of People Management Associations.
