CICRA launches Certified Secure Computer User training

In the wake of recent series of hacking attacks, CICRA has launched an internationally recognized training programme to educate and arm computer users with skills to protect their computers and IT systems.

The training programme titled Certified Secure Computer User (C|SCU) provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to protect their information assets.

“C|SCU training is suitable for professionals, knowledge workers, executives, junior staff in IT/networking/computer security departments, parents and any computer users who uses the internet extensively to work, study and play,” CICRA Holdings Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said.

“C|SCU is also suitable for end-users in banks and other financial institutions, which are subjected continuous threats from the hackers,” Mr. Dayaratne said.

“The students will acquire fundamental understanding of various computer and network security threats such as identity theft, credit card fraud, online banking phishing scams, virus and backdoors, emails hoaxes, sex offenders lurking online, loss of confidential information, hacking attacks and social engineering. More importantly, the skills taught from the class helps students to take the necessary steps to mitigate their security exposure,” he said.

“The programme covers threats originating from malwares, hacking and misconfiguration, encryption and how it can be used to ensure information security, different types of data backup techniques and various threats over Internet while using search engines, online gaming, messenger services, etc. and their countermeasures.”

“The training includes how to ensure security while doing online transactions, Internet security threats and how to stay safe online, email security threats such as spams, malware and scam mails and countermeasures, various social networking security threats and how to stay safe and various threats to information stored in mobile devices and countermeasures,” he said.

“It also teaches parents and teachers how they can protect their child from online threats.”

“The students will receive a certificate of participation and a complimentary exam voucher worth US$50 to sit and obtain the international qualification,” he said.

C|SCU is a cyber-security training program of the International Council for Electronic Commerce Consultants (EC-Council), USA. Those who qualify this certification can opt to study further in advanced training programmes including Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH), Computer Hacking & Forensic Investigator (C|HFI) and Licensed Penetration Tester (LPT).
CICRA Consultancies (Pvt) Ltd is an accredited training center of the EC-Council in Sri Lanka.
