Difference between BEng and MEng degrees

BEng (Hons) degree is a 3-year programme required to get an entry-level engineering job.

MEng degree is a 4-year programme required for Chartered Engineer status.

The Engineering Council, which is the regulatory body for the engineering profession in the UK sets and maintains the internationally recognized standards for two main categories of Engineers – Chartered Engineers (CEng), and Incorporated Engineers (IEng).

Academic requirements for the two categories are:

Chartered Engineer (CEng)

-an accredited Bachelors degree with honours in Engineering or Technology, plus either an appropriate Masters degree accredited by a professional engineering institution, or appropriate further learning to Masters level or
-an accredited integrated MEng degree
Incorporated Engineer (IEng)
-an accredited Bachelors or Honours degree in Engineering or Technology

How to become a Chartered Architect

Successful completion of the BSc (Hons) Architecture programme at CINEC followed by the Master of Architecture programme at the University of Tasmania (UTAS) in Australia fulfils the academic requirements for professional registration as a Chartered Architect.
