The wild ‘waves’

The latest trend at press conferences organized by a very popular sports body is that the big shots bring their secretaries to attend these meetings. Invariably they end up in five star hotels and the secretaries too have to mark time until their bosses wind up their affairs. Some newspapers have described these movements as ‘waves’. They certainly are waves taking the secretaries and their bosses on a wild surface ride.

Racing cars to the fore

The talk in town is about the racing cars that are set to invade the country after the relaxation of taxes on such vehicles. An association involved in motor races has come out with the remarks that this is a good move and more racing drivers will be able to compete in motor races in quality racing vehicles. Those in the know say that the higher ups are responsible for this extravaganza and the association is only saying these things to please the bosses.

Better advice needed

A top coach made a comment that after winning the toss the local team should have batted first. However with the inclement weather the gods involved with it had other ideas and the local team was stuttering to survive. Surely a coach with so many years of experience should have known better and should have given better advice.

Youth Asian Sports Festival

Sri Lanka has been given the task of staging the third Youth Asian Sports Festival in 2017. This decision was taken at a special meeting held in Macau where the Sri Lankan contingent numbering 12 attended. However an official who had been dishonoured earlier was in the bidding committee. We wonder how he managed to be in this body when he had no place in it at all.

No funds

Recently the chief of a top sports body was invited to attend a meeting conducted by the Big Sports Man. However the chief declined to attend the meeting giving a lame excuse. However the person who turned down the invite to attend this meeting has been heard saying that the sports body he represents has no funds to even pay their staff and how could he attend a meeting of this nature where he surely would have been asked to contribute something towards the proposed proposals.

Big boast

A top sports tournament was held successfully in August and the director of this contest said before the competition that all accounts will be in order after seven days of the competition. Now almost three months have elapsed after the contest and still no signs of the accounts. It looks as if it was a big boast and nothing else.

The new menace

At a sports contest held in the hills recently organizers were aghast to find that all soft drinks that were not sold had vanished into thin air. Usually these drinks are taken to the next venue to be sold to spectators there. The organizers are now wondering how to tackle this new menace.

The cover up

Generally he goes to the mountains. But, this time he went on an excursion to purchase covers. However the problem is the man who goes to the mountain has purchased the stuff from an blacklisted supplier. To add to the man’s woes now the citadel is in line to lose over 50,000/- $ in the aftermath of the deal.

Berated

The big man of sports attended meeting for coaches. The hierarchy of the citadel was supposed to attend the meeting. But, man from the new world has given the meeting the skip. However the big man of sports had not taken this gesture kindly. The man from the new world had got a proper telling off.
