St. John’s Nugegoda receives funds from Aussie OBA to develop U-19 cricket
View(s):The under 19 cricket team of St. John’s College, Nugegoda has been sponsored by St. John’s College, Nugegoda branch in Australia this year.
Old Boys of St. John’s College, Nugegoda, formed a branch of the OBA in Australia recently. The Association is headed by Bertie Ekenaike, former Cricketer of St. John’s College, Nugegoda.
Ekenaike has been spending his personal funds every year to develop the under 19 cricket for his alma mater for the past six years. Every year he has been spending Rs. 500000/- (Five Hundred Thousand) for this purpose. This is the first time the OBA of St. John’s College, Nugegoda branch in Australia has donated money to the college. The cheque for Rs.. 7,00000/- ( Seven Hundred Thousand Only ) was handed over to the President of the OBA recently during college assembly.
