TNA MP’s brother-in-law found dead

The body of a man found at Nanu-Oya in the Nuwara Eliya District on Wednesday has been identified as that of the brother-in-law of Wanni District Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP Selvam Adaikkalanathan.

Sinnathurei Indreswaran (53) had allegedly been abducted by an unknown group of men from Sea Street in Colombo on October 30. An unidentified body was found in Nanu-Oya but it was only on Friday night that MP Adaikkalanthan had been noticed about the discovery of a body following which he visited the mortuary at the Nuwara Eliya hospital and identified it as that of his brother-in-law.
MP Adaikkalanthan said his brother-in-law, an accountant, had left his home in Kotahena at 10 a.m. to go to the jewellery shop in Sea Street where he was working.

He had called home at 7.00 p.m and since then his whereabouts were not known. He is reported to have been carrying three million rupees at the time.

Pettah Police have arrested a jewellery broker who they believe may be linked to this incident. Police have also recovered three million rupees in cash from the suspect.Meanwhile all the shops in Sea Street were closed yesterday in protest at the killing.
