Shattered plaque, shattered dreams

View(s):

This shattered foundation stone is symbolic of the shattered hopes of the people of Muhatthuwaram in Kalpitiya. The elaborate foundation plaque giving details of what they would do had been laid by Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa as far back as February 2009 (Below). But with little or no work done on the village reawakening and tourism project here, the people are looking at the battered foundation and asking whether the Government has the money for these well-publicised projects.
