Char-Adhayaya, a dance and musical show and a painting exhibition organised by Santiniketan Friends will be held from October 15 to 18 in Colombo.  In collaboration with the SAARC Cultural Centre, the cultural show with dance and music tittled ‘Festival of Santiniketan’ will be held at the John de Silva Theatre and at the Museus College Auditorium.

The festival will kick off with art and sculpture exhibition at Colombo Art Gallery on October 15 and will be followed by Char Adhayaya-dance and musical show at John De Silva from 7 to 9 pm on October 16 and Salamba dance and musical show at Museus College and Kanya-dance and musical show on October 18 at the same Museum College at the same time.
With the aim to promote Sri Lanka as a cultural hub for the promotion of art and culture in South Asia, Santiniketan Friends, an organization of Santiniketan alumni have come together with the common vision of providing and a launching pad for new Sri Lankan graduates from Visva Bharati .

Similar to Galle Literary Festival which has become an annual event in the international diaries and show cases the various aspects of the literary world, the organisation aims to make Char-Adhayaya an annual event to showcase the various aspects of fine arts in the fields of music, art, dance and drama.

“Being groomed in the sacred precincts of Santiniketan we would like to promote Gurudev Rabindranath Tagor’s vision of unity through culture, of fusions of expression and freedom of thoughts and expressions and what better way than through the media of fine arts and culture,” the organisers of the event stated.

The president of Santiniketan Friends is well-known dancer Chandana Wickreamasinghe while Charith Perera is the vice president and Thilini Rodrigo Yadav is the secretary. Prasanna Kolambage is the assistant secretary and Anusha Wijesinghe treasurer and committee members are Sujeewa Ranasinghe, Madhuranga Samarainsghe, Madhava Gunawardena, Savindra Jayawardane, Vinoddini Durgabakshi and Chamila Suranga.

Shailesh Yada, Thilini Munasinghe and Asanga Perera are coordinators.
