Many students who followed the marketing course at the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) passed out at the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) annual graduation ceremony held recently at the Water’s Edge, Battaramulla. SLIM is an accredited centre for CIM and it conducts lectures for CIM students at its’ branch in Kandy as well.

Among all those who graduated, were four SLIM students who won Sri Lankan awards.

Asanthi Kodituwakku who has followed CIM at SLIM from stage one to stage three, and won the Sri Lanka prize for Analysis and Decision, said that she owed her prize to the excellent lecture support she received at SLIM. “I had made the correct decision from the very beginning to follow CIM atSLIM. It was a fine learning experience for me. The dedication and commitment the lecturers possess is amazing” Asanthi said.

The Sri Lankan prize for Managing Marketing was won by M.A Reyal, while he was awarded the best stage prize as well. received the subject prize for Assessing the Marketing Environment.

Congratulating the SLIM students who graduated, SLIM President Tilan Wijeyesekera said that as the national body of marketing in Sri Lanka, SLIM is proud of these students who performed exceptionally well in CIM.

He added that SLIM maintains high standards ensuring quality lectures and other facilities for the students to obtain an overall knowledge on marketing.

Rather than merely following lectures, SLIM students have the added advantage of attending experience-sharing forums and action learning sessions which are held regularly. The syllabuses are being updated to keep abreast with latest developments in the business arena. SLIM also conducts special examination support sessions which help students to brush up their knowledge and face the examination confidently.

Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) founded in 1970 (then called Ceylon Institute of Marketing) with the view to harness the available skills in Marketing for the growth and development of the profession, was subsequently incorporated by Act no 41 of 1980 of the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. SLIM is a Member of the Asia Marketing Federation (AMF) and the World Marketing Association (WMA).
