Bureaucratic bungling stalls IRD building reconstruction

Construction work on the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) building which was severely damaged in the abortive LTTE air attack on February 20 has been hampered owing to bureaucratic bungling and serious conflict of interest issues involving the Secretary to the Ministry of Construction and Engineering Services and some other Ministry officials, informed sources said.

Trade union to address EU Parliament Human Rights Council on GSP+

The Free Trade Zone and General Services Employees’ Union of Sri Lanka says it has been nominated through EU trade union links to address a Human Rights Council meeting of the EU Parliament, on the GSP+ trade scheme, at the end of this month.
