BATA-Sunday Times Most Popular School Boy Cricketer contests 2009
Angelo closing the gap

The Bata-Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer contest sees St Peter’s skipper Angelo Perera getting closer to the leader Zahira skipper Isham Ghouse at the completion of count 12.
Ghouse who had a lead of 2267 votes last weekend saw his lead being reduced to 1801 votes. He received 849 votes to finish on 13,869 while Angelo received 1315 votes to end on 12,068 votes.
The coming weeks are going to be crucial for the duo and no doubt the contest is going to be between these two. The other placings are of little significance as none of them would be able get closer to the top two.

Meanwhile in the outstation category voting has been on a low profile for the top two but the leader Niwanka Abeyrathne of Sri Sumangala Panadura holds on to the lead. Niwanka has polled 110 votes to finish on 1874 while second placed Amith Tillekeratne received 148 votes to end on 1405 votes.
But third placed Krishan Wickramarachchi of Gamini MMV Bentota is catching up on the duo. Krishan has received 322 votes and is just five votes behind Tillekeratne. S.H. Indunil Kumara of Devapathiraja Vidyalaya Rathgama could also be a threat and he polled the highest in this category receiving 502 votes.

The International School category is a one horse race with Aadhil Niyas of Gateway International way ahead of the others.
