Panadura all decked for a glittering Vesak
View(s):This year, Panadura town is preparing to celebrate the Vesak festival under the banner of the ‘Buddhabhiwandana Vesak Zone’ from May 30 to June 2.
The events have been organised under the leadership of the Panadura Buddhist Shasanarakshaka Bala Mandala, with the cooperation of state and private institutions.
A special series of sermons and a series of meditation programmes will also be held for school children.
On May 30, the Vesak Poya Day, a Shila Bhavana programme will be held at the Galgoda Sri Maha Viharaya in Panadura, as well as at all other temples in the area. Also, an exhibition of the Buddha’s relics and a bodhi pooja will be held at the Ran Koth Viharaya in Panadura that evening.
On the evening of May 31st, two religious processions consisting of daham pasal students led by the Panadura North and South Shasanarakshaka Bala Mandala will arrive in Panadura town.
Furthermore, a series of ‘Vesak Sadaha Gee’ programmes are scheduled to be held in the Panadura city centre on May 31, June 1 and 2. A special Vesak lantern exhibition will also be held at the Panadura Sudarshana Devarama Temple.
