A great teacher is someone who leaves a lasting mark on a student’s life, and we are truly grateful to say that you are one of those rare individuals – Assistant Principal of Royal College, Madam Thangeswary Nanthakumar (BCom, PGDE, PGDEM, MPhil) of Royal College, who served from 2021-2025.

From the moment you stepped into Royal College, it was clear that you were more than just a principal; you were a guide, mentor, and a constant source of encouragement. There was warmth, understanding, and a sense of safety that made us feel like we belonged. You never treated us as just students sitting in rows; you treated us as individuals with dreams, fears, strengths, and struggles. You saw us for who we truly are, and that made all the difference.

You taught us more than lessons from a book. You taught us patience when we wanted to give up, confidence when we doubted ourselves, and courage when we felt afraid to try. There were moments when we felt lost or overwhelmed, but somehow your words always reached us at the right time. A simple smile, a gentle reminder, or a few encouraging sentences from you gave us strength we didn’t know we had.

What we most admire about you is how deeply you care. You never gave up on any of us, even when we made mistakes or fell behind. Instead, you stood by us, believed in us, and reminded us that failure is not the end but part of the journey. You made learning meaningful, not stressful. You encouraged us to take part in extracurricular activities, enabling us to achieve our goals at the national level – be it sports, music, art or drama. You headed the Tamil clubs and societies with ease and guided us to run all club activities smoothly and maintain club accounts to perfection, making us wholesome individuals.

You taught us that learning is not only about books and classrooms, but also about how to be better human beings. You showed us kindness, fairness, discipline, and empathy. You listened when we needed to be heard, understood us when we struggled, and guided us when we felt confused. When you were the head, Royal College was more than a place to learn; it was a place where we felt valued and understood.

Your efforts may not always be visible, but their impact is permanent. We will carry your lessons long after school is over, in every challenge we face and every dream we chase. Thank you, madam, for inspiring us, believing in us, and shaping us into better learners and better individuals.
