EduCycle to promote practical recycling methods in schools
View(s):The EduCycle programme, aimed at raising awareness among school students about waste management and fostering sustainable environmental habits in Sri Lanka, has been launched.
Implemented by the Education Ministry and Neptune Papers, the programme was inaugurated on April 23, at Kegalu Vidyalaya by Environment Minister Dammika Patabendi The initiative is another step in the plastic reduction programme carried out by the Environment Ministry in line with World Environment Day 2025, which plans to expand it island wide.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the ministry and Neptune Papers on this initiative.
The agreement aims to promote practical recycling methods in schools through PET plastic waste collection initiatives, encourage the participation of students in activities related to environmental protection and sustainability, and strengthen collaboration among the Environment Ministry, Education Ministry, Neptune Papers, and participating schools.
