SAB Campus of CA Sri Lanka welcomes over 200 new students for Applied Accounting and Business Analytics degrees
View(s):SAB Campus of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) proudly inaugurated the 20th intake of the BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting and the 4th intake of the B.Mgt (Hons) in Business Analytics this March at the CA Sri Lanka Auditorium.
This milestone event marked the beginning of an inspiring new academic journey for over 200 enthusiastic students, stepping into a transformative chapter of learning and leadership. Adding to the celebration, the campus also awarded seven prestigious scholarships to exceptional students who demonstrated outstanding academic excellence and remarkable extracurricular achievements.
The inauguration was graced by Mr. Tishan Subasinghe, President of CA Sri Lanka, Ms. Lakmali Priyangika, Chief Executive Officer of CA Sri Lanka, and Emeritus Professor Ariyarathna Jayamaha, Director of SAB Campus alongside faculty members, industry professionals, and families of the new students.
Delivering his speech, Mr. Subasinghe highlighted the evolving landscape of the accounting and analytics professions. “A degree is a powerful starting point, but what truly sets a professional apart is the ability to see beyond numbers and data,” he said.
“At SAB Campus, we are not only equipping graduates with strong technical foundations but also nurturing the soft skills, personality development, and professional networks they need to ascend the corporate ladder. Our alumni and the wider CA Sri Lanka community stand ready to support them every step of the way,” he added.
Although the new intakes for both degree programmes have commenced, SAB Campus has announced that applications for both programmes remain open until mid-April, offering an opportunity for students who have recently received their GCE Advanced Level results to still secure a place.
Meanwhile, in recognition of exceptional academic performance and well-rounded excellence, seven scholarships were awarded to students who secured three A passes at the GCE Advanced Level examination, alongside distinguished achievements in extracurricular activities and sport. The scholarships reflect SAB Campus’s commitment to nurturing future leaders who combine intellectual rigour with character and resilience.
Designed for students aspiring to careers in accounting, finance, and business management, the BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting degree blends theoretical depth with practical application. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, auditing, and business operations. The degree is recognised by the Ministry of Education and various professional accounting bodies and is complemented by a two-year built-in internship programme, providing invaluable practical experience.
The B.Mgt (Hons) in Business Analytics degree is a forward-looking programme which prepares students to bridge the gap between business management and data-driven decision-making. Students develop proficiency in advanced analytics tools such as Excel, R, Python, and Tableau and learn to translate complex data into actionable insights for strategic business decisions. Key features include an industry-relevant curriculum with hands-on case studies and practical projects, an interdisciplinary approach combining management principles with analytics, a global perspective preparing graduates to work across diverse sectors, and an emphasis on communication skills to effectively present findings to non-technical stakeholders.
