Indian scholarships for estate students
View(s):The Indian High Commission has called applications from children of estate workers for the awarding of scholarships by the Ceylon Estate Workers’ Education Trust (CEWET).
These scholarships are available for GCE Advanced Level, undergraduate courses and for vocational/technical education in government technical colleges in Sri Lanka.
Students who have passed GCE Ordinary Level with a minimum of 6 credit passes or Advanced Level are eligible to apply. Applicants should be under 25 years of age. They should duly fill the application forms and submit it along with a copy of their birth certificate, and copy of GCE O/-Level or A/Level results sheet. The estate superintendent’s certificate regarding parents’ occupation, latest salary slip of parents, and copy of the first page of the applicant’s latest bank passbook are also required.
Application forms can be downloaded from the High Commission of India, Colombo website at www.hcicolombo.gov.in.
Hard copies of the application forms can be obtained from the High Commission of India, 36-38, Galle Road, Colombo 3 and the Assistant High Commission of India, situated at 42, Hilpankandura Mawatha, Ampitiya Road, Kandy.
Duly completed forms should reach the Honorary Secretary, Ceylon Estate Workers Education Trust (CEWET) C/o High Commission of India, PO Box 882, Galle Road, Colombo 3 on or before April 28.
