President to attend India-AI summit; to hold talks with world leaders
View(s):President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will be among 20 world leaders who will be attending the India–AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi from tomorrow till Friday.
President Dissanayake will attend the summit on Thursday and Friday, while an advanced team led by Dr Hans Wijayasuriya, Chief Advisor to the President on Digital Economy, will head to India to participate in tomorrow’s session.
Other world leaders who are attending the summit at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi include French President Emmanuel Macron, Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
On the sidelines of the summit, the President will hold several bilateral discussions with world leaders, Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath said. These will include talks with President Macron and President Lula de Silva.
The other countries which will be represented at the highest level at the Summit include Bolivia, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Guyana, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein, Mauritius, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Seychelles, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
Ministerial delegations from more than 45 countries will also be participating in the summit. Also joining the deliberations will be UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and senior officials from several international organisations.
Officials said the India–AI Impact Summit will bring together global leaders, policymakers, innovators, and experts from across the world to deliberate on the way forward for AI and is anchored in three Sutras: People, Planet and Progress, which define India’s approach to cooperation on AI.
