Sri Lanka’s rich Eastern musical heritage takes centre stage as the Lyceum International School Group presents SWARA | Live in Concert – Season 2 on 7th February at 6.30 p.m. at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo.

More than a concert, SWARA is a cultural movement within international school education—an artistic journey that honours tradition while embracing the future. This year, over 700 student vocalists from Lyceum International Schools across the island will unite on one stage, marking once again Sri Lanka’s Largest School-Based Eastern Music Evening.

Rooted in Eastern classical traditions and enriched by Sri Lankan folk influences, SWARA weaves melody, rhythm, and emotion into a deeply immersive musical experience. Students educated primarily in the English medium present Eastern music with remarkable sensitivity, blending Indian classical foundations with Sri Lankan melodic structures and tempo. The result is a performance that is authentic, disciplined, and refreshingly contemporary.

Within Sri Lanka’s international school landscape, SWARA stands apart as a platform that celebrates Eastern philosophy, cultural identity, and artistic discipline while nurturing globally minded young citizens. Since its inception, it has sparked meaningful dialogue on the importance of preserving local arts within modern education.

The concert was conceived under the visionary leadership of Dr. Mohan Lal Grero, Founder of Lyceum International Schools. According to Visharad Dilum Niranja, Creative Head of SWARA and Head of the Eastern Music Division, Season 2 deepens the artistic experience through greater musical refinement and a stronger integration of Hindustani traditions, which form the foundation of Eastern music.

Students from Lyceum International Schools – Nugegoda, Panadura, Wattala, Gampaha, Ratnapura, Nuwara Eliya, Anuradhapura, and Kurunegala will take part, reflecting the collective spirit and shared artistic vision of the Lyceum community.

Under the guidance of Dr. (Mrs.) Kumari Grero, Coordinating Principal of the Lyceum International School Group, the event is expected to welcome foreign diplomats, renowned artistes, and distinguished guests, offering young performers a prestigious international platform.

The success of SWARA is strengthened by its partners: Lyceum Campus (Platinum Sponsor), Green Energy Solar Solutions and Prime Auto by NCG (Gold Sponsors), and Book Studio (Silver Sponsor). Supporting partners include Dream Team Media, Zuse Technologies, Wijaya Newspapers, NCG Express, Journey by Design, Lyceum Academy, Jacobi Lanka, and Makeen Books.

SWARA | Live in Concert – Season 2 promises to be an evening where tradition meets youthful passion—and where the future of Eastern music is shaped by young voices filled with purpose. Seat Reservations: www.lyceum.lk/swara |  0777 838 877
