CCC School of Cricket’s Omith and Andrea impress in Malaysian state competition

Omith Ratnayake of Nalanda College and Andrea Wijeratne of Royal College, both talented young cricketers from CCC School of Cricket, were invited to represent the State of Sarawak in Malaysia’s Under-19 Inter-State National Premier Tournament. Omith and Andrea, who are two outstanding Under-17 cricketers from the CCC School of Cricket, headed by the renowned coach Nelson Mendis, have been nurturing their skills under the veteran coach’s watchful eyes.

The duo of Omith and Andrea contributed to the success of State of Sarawak, who eventually emerged runners-up of the Malaysian Under-19 Inter-State National Premier Tournament 2025. As an opener, Omith contributed with two half centuries in three games, while top scoring with a timely knock of 96 in the final, while opening bowler Andrea too was equally productive by claiming three wickets in the semi-final game, which State of Sarawak won to reach the final. Following their contributions at the Under-19 Inter-State National Premier competition, both youngsters caught the attention of the Malaysian selectors, who picked Omith and Andrea for the country’s youth Twenty20 competition, representing the State of Sarawak.
