Hungarian scholarships available
View(s):The Ministry of Education has called applications from eligible Lankans for the award of 8 undergraduate scholarships offered by Hungary.
The ministry explained that under the bilateral cooperation between Hungary and Sri Lanaka, applications are called for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship programme for the academic year 2026/27.
Applicants should have general eligibility requirements such being a Lankan citizen, should be above 18 years old as of 31, August 2026. They should have a minimum of 3 passes at the 2024 GCE (A/L) Exam in the relevant fields of study conducted by the Department of Examinations.
The applicant should possess a good knowledge of English. (Should have obtained at least a “C” pass in English at the GCE (O/L) Exam and “S” pass at the GCE (A/L) Exam.
Applicants are required to fulfill all eligibility criteria on or before January 15.

The study programmes are generally available in English and Hungarian.
Students should have a level
of proficiency in the language of education as required by the host institution. The should apply directly for the study
programme online.
Selected candidates shall be responsible for the international roundtrip cost. However, they would be exempted from the payment of tuition fee.
A monthly stipend of HUF 43,700 (EUR 110) will be provided as living expenses in Hungary, for 12 months a year, until the completion of studies.
Applicants should be provided with a free dormitory place or a contribution of HUF 40,000/month as a contribution to rental costs, and in bigger cities – especially in the capital city – this contribution would not cover the full amount of rental costs.
