China’s gift of school uniform material to be ceremonially handed over this month
View(s):The distribution of fabric materials for school uniforms to divisional offices is expected to take place from January 19.
The Education Ministry said China has handed over 11,484 million pieces of fabric to Sri Lanka as a donation, and that all shipments have reached port.
The official ceremony of the school uniforms donation will take place on Tuesday, January 13 under the patronage of Prime Minister and Minister of Education Harini Amarasuriya.
Free school uniforms will be made available to the students of all government and government-assisted schools, as well as to student monks and lay students of all government-approved piriven island wide.
Around 4.4 million students are to be provided school uniforms.
