Young talent takes centre stage at ‘Rhythm of Art 2025’
View(s):The vibrant creativity of Sri Lanka’s young artists were on full display at the recently concluded ‘Rhythm of Art’, the Annual Art Exhibition 2025 presented by ‘The Russian School of Art’ at the Russian House in Colombo. Showcasing an impressive collection of 176 artworks, the exhibition stands as a testament to the imagination, discipline, and artistic promise of its budding creators.
The artworks, ranging from expressive portraits and landscapes to modern abstract compositions, were produced over a period of three months by students of varying ages. Each piece has been crafted under the careful guidance of veteran art educator Arjuna Jayasinghe, who brings over two decades of experience at the institution. He is supported by Assistant Teacher Mahesha Fernando, whose nurturing mentorship has also shaped the young artists’ journeys.
Presented under an Open Theme, the exhibition allows students the freedom to explore their individual styles and interests. This has resulted in a captivating mix of concepts, colours, and creative approaches, offering viewers a glimpse into the diverse perspectives of the next generation of artists.
The event has been gracefully curated with the leadership and support of Maria Popova, Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka; Buddhapriya Ramanayaka, Director of the Russian House in Colombo and Mrs. Chandi Aluvihare, Cultural Officer and Coordinator of the Russian School of Art. Their collaborative efforts have shaped the exhibition into a meaningful cultural platform celebrating artistic expression and cross-cultural friendship.
