Railway commuters using the Dematagoda Railway Station have urged the Transport Ministry and railway authorities to increase the number of counters during rush hours.

They said that with only one counter operating at the Dematagoda Station during evening rush hours, the commuters have to remain in long queues to obtain their train tickets.

Supramaniyam Muhunthan

The station has had only one counter operational for over 20 years, ensuing long queues.

Recently a Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) administrative employee attached to the Information Technology Section was killed while rushing to the train as he got delayed in obtaining his ticket.

The victim was identified as Supramaniyam Muhunthan.

CPC employees too called the railway authorities to take necessary measures to reduce delays in issuing tickets by increasing the number of counters at the Dematagoda Station.
