Cambridge Linguaskill is a modular, AI-powered online test that is developed by Cambridge English which assesses English language skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities, which align with the internationally acknowledged Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), allowing students, professionals, and institutions to accurately evaluate language proficiency.

Times School of Higher Education successfully organised a Cambridge Linguaskill capacity development training programme for educators and lecturers assembling from Linguaskill test centres across the island. The programme was held at the Times School of Higher Education and was conducted under the guidance of Ms Ranmali Wickramasinghe, leading the session with valuable insights with the participants.

The programme intended to provide participants with the latest Cambridge Linguaskill knowledge, introduce new learning tech methods, and explore creative teaching and learning methodologies. Linguaskill toolkits were used in classrooms to help educators improve student engagement and reinforce language evaluation standards, with a particular focus on how they can be put into practice. Conducting this programme benefits society by providing educators with modern skills and knowledge, which increases the quality of English language instruction. Improving educators’ skills guarantees that students are better prepared for global possibilities, resulting in a more skilled and competitive workforce in the future.

This programme signifies the beginning of Times School of Higher Education’s efforts to prepare educators and improve language learning. By promoting a culture of continuous growth in expertise, Times School hopes to build a network of highly trained educators capable of mentoring peers, implementing best practices, and adapting to changing global language standards.

The participants praised the programme for its relevance, effectiveness, new linguaskill knowledge and interactive sessions that gave them confidence to deliver improved English training to their students. The Times School of Higher Education highlighted its commitment to continuous professional growth and announced plans to introduce more initiatives to support instructors and increase the overall standard of English language training.
