ICBT Career Day 2025

The ICBT Career Day 2025 was held at the campus premises on 11th September. The 5th edition of the event has reached its pinnacle this year as the number of companies graced the event and the student participation was at its all time highest. So, we caught up with Mr. Sampath Perera, the proud and highly delighted General Manager and the driving force of this venture.
When we asked, Mr. Perera about the specialty of this edition of ICBT Career Day, he replied; “Obviously we have planned to host this event in the first quarter of the year which would have been the ideal time to hold an event of this nature. But due to few unavoidable factors, we were compelled to bring it forward to September. Although, September is not the most conducive time of the year for a career day nature of an event, we were able to conduct the best version. Business ventures of Sri Lanka had responded our request to join hands with us to identify the academic competency of our students and open their doors to these budding scholars to find the glimpse of the corporate world”.
It was more than double of the originally expected number of companies that eventually graced the event. More than 70 corporate and industrial doyens of Sri Lanka, had very gleefully accepted the invitation of ICBT to be at this highly significant fixture of the calendar of the campus.
“Initially it has made us bit nervous to note the number of confirmed participants was not at a satisfactory level, recalled Mr. Sampath Perera. “But then came a collective, tireless and unbelievably dedicated effort from our organising committee to reach many prominent business ventures for the event and the rest was history. It was truly a wonderful team effort and I have not enough superlatives to describe that hard work they put forward to achieve the success of today”.
Around 1000 students who visited have been given with the opportunities to expose themselves to the industrial and corporate world for the first time as they are just setting their first steps of long professional journey ahead of them. Mr. Perera explained, “Learning in academia is obviously paramount importance, but exposing yourselves into the fiercely competitive real world is a different challenge. This career day has given our students that all important glimpse of such challenging environment on the ground and push their limits of knowledge and skills to greater heights. In other words, they have been made to understand the need to raise the bar to match the realistic and practical challenges await them in future.”
With the success of this year’s event Mr. Perera and his “never say die team” has found that motivation to stage the best version of the Caree Day in 2026. “It’s almost the same team that had delivered 02 highly successful events in space of just 03 months after our excellent showpiece of Exito Expo staged in July. We are highly geared up to deliver the best next year and it would be staged in the first quarter of next year, the very much pleased General Manager Mr. Sampath Perera has concluded his conversation.
