Wesley outclass Ananda for fifth successive win
High riding Wesley College proved to be too good for newcomers to the top division Ananda College whom they outclassed by 43-11 in the last league match of the Dialog Schools Rugby League 2025 at Havelock Park yesterday. The win also saw the Double Blue boys end their league campaign with an unbeaten record winning all their five first round matches they played.
Wesley, having taken a comfortable 24-6 at the breather, accumulated their points through seven tries and four conversions to an unconverted try and two penalties scored by Ananda.

The first session Wesley, went into the lead scoring back-to-back tries within the space of six minutes with the first in the fourth minute by centre Mohamed Fawas and the second two minutes later by lock Praththana Rodrigo. Fullback Abdul Haadhi booted over one conversion.
This was followed by Ananda fullback Deneth Chamuditha successfully booting over two penalties in the 20th and 23rd minutes. Wesley, going into the attack, saw skipper and No.8 Sandul Gammanpila going over for an unconverted try in the 31st minute and Haadhi made the conversion. In the dying stages of this session prop Pawan Thiranagama went over for an unconverted try to put Wesley in the lead by 24-6 before the short whistle was blown.
On resumption Wesley gave the Anandians some torrid moments and began their scoring spree in the first minute with winger Kaveesha Dilhara going over for a try. Haadhi added the extra points. Flyhalf Kaizer Lye helped the Double Blues increase their score in the 44th minute with a try under-the-post giving Haadhi an easy kick at goal.
From there on Wesley did not tire themselves out and put in much effort. But they succeeded to increase their tally in the 68th minute with fullback Haadhi going over for an unconverted try. With Wesley leading 43-6, in the dying stages Ananda managed to breach the Wesley defense with flanker going over an unconverted consolation try.
