Colts dominated Kurunegala Youth with a 249-run victory in their Major Club Limited Over tournament match played at Colts ground yesterday. The win was built on a superb 189-run partnership between Dinesh Chandimal and Sangeeth Cooray.

Chandimal, currently out of the national ODI squad, smashed 120 off 89 balls with 13 fours and four sixes. Cooray provided steady support with 100 off 149 deliveries, including 10 boundaries, as Colts posted 316-5.

The bowling attack then dismantled Kurunegala Youth’s reply. Akila Dhananjaya was exceptional with 4/9, whilst Kavisha Anjula took 3/10. Dhananjaya Lakshan contributed 2/23 to complete the comprehensive victory.

A career-best 158 by Sithara Gimhan, who shared a match-winning fourth-wicket stand of 228 runs with skipper Ramesh Mendis, helped Moors SC to scale down CCC’s massive 317-run target in their match played at CCC grounds. Gimhan smashed an unbeaten 158 including 12 towering sixes and six boundaries, leading the successful run chase which was ably supported by Mendis with his unbeaten half-century (70). Earlier, an unbeaten 101 by Anjula Bandara helped CCC set up a massive 317 target, but the visitors reached the target with 21 balls left.

A brilliant all-round effort saw NCC pull off a 7-wicket win over Ace Capital at NCC grounds. Tamil Union eased to an 8-wicket win over hapless Panadura SC at P. Sara Oval. Having bowled out the visitors for 174, the hosts reached the target in the 27th over with Minod Bhanuka and Sineth Jayawardena hitting half-centuries.

Police SC held their nerve to record a tense 3-run win over Chilaw Marians at Moratuwa. Chasing a modest 249 to win, Chilaw Marians were cruising smoothly, reaching 195-3, but lost the remaining seven wickets for just 50 runs to suffer a heartbreaking loss.

An unbroken 182-run opening stand between Tharindu Harshana (109) and Ron Chandraguptha (63) guided Bloomfield to a convincing 10-wicket win over Nugegoda Sports and Welfare Club at Reid Avenue. After bowling the visitors out for 179, the hosts raced to victory in the 34th over of their innings.
