International conference to be held with help from RecoAsia and ILO
View(s):The Cabinet provided approval to conduct an international conference on qualification frameworks and recognition of qualifications concerning higher education and credentials.
With increased opportunities existing for higher education in a globalised world, agreements and accords should be signed that facilitate the acceptance of qualifications and credentials awarded mutually in accordance with the qualification framework of various countries.
Therefore, the University of Ruhuna and Wayamba University, together with the Education Ministry, have initiated several activities across “Regional Cooperation in the Hospitality Sector among Asian Countries” (RecoAsia) that finance equal funding under the programme “Erasmus+” by the European Union.
Sri Lanka has also joined the SAARC Qualification Framework Project under the guidance of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Under such circumstances, the Education Ministry has planned to hold an International conference on Qualification Frameworks and Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education and Credentials from June 28 to 29 with the financing of RecoAsia and ILO.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal by the Education Minister to conduct the said conference.
