Permission has been granted by the Transport and Highways Ministry for roadside sellers to sell their wares on either side of the roads from yesterday  in lieu of the upcoming season.

This will be in effect until April 18 on roads that come under the Highway Development Authority as long as it does not inconvenience the public.

Vendors can sell their  products  in temporary stalls. No registration is required although; permission can be obtained from the relevant Divisional Secretariat if necessary.

Police and the Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs have been notified, the Ministry of Transport and Highways further stated.

“We are working to facilitate the traffic flow on the road by placing more traffic officers. Given the state of affairs in the country this will be of great help to the  people. So we are giving our utmost support in order to make it work,” Police Media Spokesman and Senior Superintendent Nihal Thalduwa said.
