Chinese donation of uniform material handed over
View(s):Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong handed over the remaining stock of uniforms to Education Minister Susil Premajayantha at the Education Ministry on Thursday.
On January 13, the Government received 30% of the fabric, which was officially handed over to the Minister by Acting Chinese Ambassador Hu Wei.
Minister Premajayantha accepted the remaining 40% of the stock donated by the Chinese government. This completes the total of 70% of school uniform materials. The balance 30% will be provided by the Government.
The Minister said the Government expected to complete the distribution of uniforms before the commencement of the new academic term.
These uniforms are given to students of government schools and government-aided schools, as well as student monks pursuing studies.
