Farewell Sumitra, icon of Lanka’s silver screen
View(s):The funeral of veteran filmmaker Sumitra Peries took place last evening with full state honours at Independence Square in Colombo.
She passed away on Thursday at the age of 88. She was the wife of legendary filmmaker Dr. Lester James Peries.
Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Media Minister Bandula Gunawardena, Cultural Affairs Minister Vidura Wickramanayake and many veteran artistes were present at the funeral to bid adieu to the iconic filmmaker.
