Central Finance appoints new Chairman

Central Finance Company has appointed Jayampathy Bandaranayake as its non-executive Chairman and Faiz Mohideen as an independent non-executive Director with effect from January 2012.
Mr. Bandaranayake is the current Chairman of Ceylon Tobacco Company and serves on the board of Finlays Colombo PLC. He is a past Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon, and functioned as the Chairman/Director General of the Board of Investments (BOI) from May 2010 to June 2011.

Mr. Mohideen, a retired Treasury official, is a director at Carson Cumberbatch PLC, Dipped Products PLC and Kelani Valley Plantations PLC. “These appointments are due to the impending retirement of Messrs S.V. Wanigasekera (Chairman) and U.L. Kadurugamuwa (independent non–executive Director) who will be stepping down on 31st December, in line with board succession planning implemented in 2011,” according to a company statement.

Board appointments made during the year include Kumar Jayasuriya (Executive Chairman of Finlays Colombo PLC), Sunil Wickramasinghe, (Chairman of MILCO Pvt. Ltd) as non-executive Directors and.Prasanna de Silva as an Executive Director.
