Jump flies high

Pix by Nilan Maligaspe

It had earned rave reviews in London and New York where critics acclaimed it as a modern masterpiece. Though little publicised here in Sri Lanka, the Korean comic martial arts performance ‘Jump’ staged at the Ananda College auditorium was a superlative show.

Telling the story of a Korean family, all martial arts experts from the veteran in ancient fighting arts , the grandfather to the beautiful daughter who turns the martial arts into a sexy but dangerous dance, and their brush with intruders in the dead of night, the show was an acrobatic amalgamation of humour and dance.

The performance was by the Yegam Theatre Company, which has gained international acclaim for its comic martial arts performances performing off Broadway and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Encore please!
