Raj Sings in tamil

Top Lankan singers will sing out for ‘Peace in Our Land’ with fourteen other primary vocalists singing on it.

Way back in 1983 when Peace was a far cry away in our minds, the vision that Raj Senewiratne had made him pen a song that is true, 25 years ago as it is today

‘One Land’, a song that reached deep down in to our psyche – a cry for peace. Perhaps if Raj had gone ahead and released this song at that time there may have been a far stronger reaching out for Peace then, as it is now.

Unfortunately, with so many ‘deaf’ ears and strident voices demanding violence at that time ‘Our Land’ the song with a vision was shelved. But today, when Peace seems a reality, this song brings out hope that togetherness is perhaps the only way to go.

The song was released in three language versions. The English was re-recorded in January 2008. The Sinhala version was re-hashed in July and the Tamil version was recorded in September 2008.

The Sinhala version orchestration was directed by Rohana Weerasighe. The Tamil version was written by K. Mahindakumar taking into consideration of the various dialects from the regions recording.

‘This song is a ‘must listen’ not just because of the lyrics, melody and masterful singing but because of the meaningful lyrics which are beautifully interwoven with the melody’ said Raj Senewiratne.

Damian Wikramatilleke, Sunil Perera, Rookantha Goonathilake, K. Mahindakumar, Ashanthi De Alwis, M. Sivakumar, Umara Sinhawansa, Shenelle Fernando, M. Bawani, Nithya Mahindakumar, Mariazelle Goonathilake, Nilukshi Jayaweerasingham, Maxi Rozairo and Raj Senewiratne rendered their voices to this song.
