IESL annual lecture to mark late Eng. D J Wimalasurendra birth anniversary
 

The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) is organizing a memorial lecture to commemorate the 134th birth anniversary of the late Engineer D J Wimalasurendra, one of the greatest engineers in the Sri Lankan history. The lecture would be held at theWimalasurendra Auditorium of the IESL on Wednesday, September 17.

During the past 19 years the Wimalasurendra Memorial Lecture was delivered by various dignitaries including renowned professionals in the fields of electrical engineering and power generation. The theme of this year’s lecture would be “Hydro Vision-stretching the Boundaries” to be delivered by Kapila Nanayakkara, Specialist Engineer of Snowyhydro Limited of Australia, according to an IESL press release.

In keeping with the tradition of the Wimalasurendra Memorial Lecture, existing members of the Wimalasurendra family will also be invited for the lecture. This lecture series which commenced in 1989 is an annual event organized by the IESL with reverence to commemorate the visionary engineer D J Wimalasurendra, who is aptly called the “Father of Hydropower in Sri Lanka”.
