Worst virus attacks on home computers

Some 86 percent of the virus attacks were on home computers according to a survey carried out during July 2007 to December 2007 which indicates that home computer users have a false of belief that their computers are unlikely to be attacked by virus’, Visal Dhupar, Managing Director, Symantec Software Solutions Ltd, India, told reporters recently.

The briefing was called to explain how Symantec can help Sri Lankan enterprises to secure and manage information and was a combined effort by Symantec Corporation and CNT International Ltd Colombo which promotes the products in Sri Lanka.

Symantec is a global leader in providing security, storage and systems management solutions to help businesses and consumers secure and manage their information. Speaking to The Sunday Times FT, Mr Dhupar said that threats are changing at a very fast rate and they are critical for people keep abreast with these changes. For example earlier these threats came from hackers but today, threats come from the underworld or parallel economies.

While the people deal with underworld economies, things are done more for money. Hence, the systems need to be robust to ensure solutions for these threats whether they come from outside or inside. He said Symantec is well aware of what is happening in the Internet and they are equipped with resources to provide solutions with right strengths and technology.
