Amongst the most recent notable achievements, Arosheny Puvanenthirarajah receiving a 97% scholarship from the Ivy League School, Princeton University in the United States of America, Dini Nathyaa Kathriarachchi bringing home the Gold Award at Singapore Global Math Finals 2022 (grade 10 category) that had 1241 students from 15 countries including China, India, USA, Canada and New Zealand participating, Malitha Pathirage being awarded the Best Delegate at ICC, Randhir Perera receiving honorary mention at Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), Sri Lanka Model United Nations (SLMUN) conference, Dewvin Mallawarachchi winning 3 medals – 2 Silver and 1 Bronze/boys under 13 – at the 46th National Age Group Aquatic Swimming Championships 2022, Rojana Ranawaka felicitated with a participation award for his novella ‘Aftermath’ as one of 100 young writers awarded from around the country and The Team Pink Nose Nation receiving honorary mention from Deakin University for exceptional creativity and communication skills at Young Environmentalists’ Challenge (YEC) 2022, organized by Deakin University in Australia and Royal Institute of Colombo, are a few which vividly exemplify the numerous spheres in which RI students excel and earn world-wide recognition.
Sports
Royal Institute has a multitude of carefully chosen, most modern facilities in offer for your child. Free of charge training by highly competent trainers qualified at national and international levels is given to all students during school hours, and especially to those who have opted to play for school sports teams and are passionate about sports. Daily practices and training take place in each branch and also at the RI sports complex, which houses a massive swimming pool, a badminton court, a basketball court and a modern gymnasium with the latest of high-class training equipment.
Clubs and Societies
If your child is not sports inclined, you still need not have any doubt as the school provides an array of clubs and societies for them to engage in. The Interact Club of Royal Institute (ICRI) has been on the rise over the last six years. The club has been very active in its respective district, participating in various projects. All clubs both new and old including the Model United Nations (RIMUN), RI Mathematics Club (RIMC), the Drama Club, the Press Club, the Astronomy Club, Art Club, etc. are operating across all branch schools and have helped students enhance their knowledge, skills, collaboration and confidence. Havelock Town Branch
The first branch, established in 1971 with 31 students and 5 teachers, and located at the heart of Colombo in a spacious span facing Havelock Road with access to all main roads and ample parking, has well over 50 long years of experience and expertise in moulding and nurturing students from grade 1 to Advanced Level in Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel and National curricula.
The school can boast of an ideal learning environment which consists of state-of-the-art modern science laboratories, libraries, spacious IT laboratories, etc. for your child.
Nugegoda Branch
Established in 1993 with 45 students and 9 teachers, the Nugegoda branch, today is renowned for its outstanding accomplishments in both national and international academic fields with many thousands of students having walked out of its gates on accomplishing high academic goals, mastering numerous skills and cultivating moral values. The school caters to learners from the Lower Nursery to International Advanced Level across Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel and the National curricula. Its infrastructure is expanding further with massive constructions well underway.
Maharagama Branch
Similarly, the Maharagama branch that stands in a unique location with quick and convenient access from Dehiwala, Boralesgamuwa and the Highlevel Road was established in 2005 with 45 students and 5 teachers, currently houses classes from Lower Nursery through Cambridge OLs, and National ALs. Well-structured with a spacious playground, auditorium and the majestic five storeyed building, the school strikes a healthy balance between academic and co-curricular excellence, with a number of students being well qualified to enter Sri Lankan state universities as well as universities overseas.
Royal Institute International Girls’ School
Well-known for its high standard international education in a girls’ only environment the RI International Girls’ School was established in 2008 with 50 students and 15 teachers, in the close proximity of the Havelock Town branch, at the heart of Colombo. With classy modern buildings, ample parking facilities and spacious play areas, the school nurtures the young ladies of the nation. Classes from Lower Nursery to Cambridge OL in the international stream and grade 1 to 8 in the national stream, play a significant role in producing and empowering hundreds of young women each year.
Gampaha Branch
Established in 2013 with 12 students and 13 teachers, it is the youngest and the only branch located outside Colombo, the Gampaha branch educates students from Nursery through Cambridge OL and National ALs.
