The Education Ministry has instructed to once again implement the Suraksha Insurance scheme project that has been implemented for students in the recent past.

Accordingly the Government has handed over the administration to Sri Lanka Insurance, and the agreements were signed  by Education Minister G. L. Peiris.  It was held under the patronage of Prof. Peiris at the Education Ministry premises.

The Education Ministry, in a circular, had instructed all school authorities in the country to forward their students’ applications to the Education Ministry’s Suraksha Insurance Scheme to the head office or any regional branch of Sri Lanka Insurance.

The Insurance Corporation of Sri Lanka has extended the agreements with the Ministry with effect from December 02, 2020 to December 01, 2021 with respect to the payment of benefits.

The ‘Suraksha’ insurance scheme also falls under the ‘Insurance for All” concept of Sri Lanka Insurance, which provides protection for all citizens of Sri Lanka.

Insurance Corporation of Sri Lanka Chairman Jagath Wellawatte, and a delegation including Kamani Gunaratne from the Education Ministry’s Health and Nutrition Branch were also present at the renewal of the agreement.
