Siri Piyarathana reach U-19 Division II cricket semis

Three notable performances by Kavishka Dhananjaya, Manindu Shayamal and Madushan Peiris helped Siri Piyarathana College, Padukka to score a resounding victory over Piliyandala Central College  in their Under-19 Singer Trophy Division II Cricket Tournament match played last Sunday at Padukka.

With this victory Siri Piyarathana College qualified for the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Batting first Siri Piyarathana College posted a tall 294 in 72.5 overs. Shayamal and Dhjananjaya exhibited an entertaining batting display which made the Piliyandala school bowlers to toil hard in dismissing them.

Shaymal scored 102 runs coming off in 110 balls which included seven hits to the ropes and six towering sixes. On the other end Dhananjaya too made merry with the bowling to notch up a masterly 81 off 137 deliveries consisting 14 boundaries.

Defending the Padukka schools score Madushan Peiris, the off-spinner ripped through the Piliyandala Central College batting line up to end up with figures of 18-6-47-6 to dismiss them for 195. Batting for the second time Piyarathana were 91 for 5 wickets at the close.
