CMSC ‘SpeedRuns’ Round 2 in Colombo

View(s):

The Ceylon Motor Sports Club (CMSC) together with Mandarin Reid, will conduct Round 2 of SpeedRuns on Sunday March 8 at the prestigious One Galle Face Mall in the heart of Colombo. SpeedRuns is the first online digital racing championship in Sri Lanka, and consists of four rounds including a final championship.

Digital Racing is where competitors take part in a virtual race against each other, using specially designed ‘Playseats’ to play a Grand Tourismo game on the PS4 platform. The Playseats consist of a racing seat, together with pedals and a force feedback steering wheel to give the driver the real feel of a racecar.

Each playseat has its own TV screen which gives the driver the view of his or her race from the driving seat. Drivers are also provided with headsets so they can hear the sound of their own cars and be fully immersed in the full virtual experience. The CMSC will have up to 10 playseats so drivers compete against each other. A master screen will show the race in progress so spectators have a view of the racing.

The first round was held in Matara and the winner there was Calvin Kingsley. A practice session was also held a couple of weeks ago and that was won by Huzeifa Jafferjee. Both Calvin and Huzeifa will be in action at Round 2 as well and a great day’s racing is on the cards. Pre registration is required and this can be done online from the SpeedRuns website, or by email to rizni@mandarinreid.com
