Niloo Jayathilaka, a keen golfer and the Chairperson of Junior Golf Development in the Sri Lanka Golf Union, entered the record books as the first lady to win the Shakespeare Shield, partnered by Dihan D. Dedigama, representing Softlogic Holdings PLC.

The Shakespeare Shield, the single most prestigious golfing tournament for corporate organisations in the Royal Colombo Gold Club, has being a board event for over 100 years.

The Shakespeare Shield played in the Foursome Stable-ford format open to partnerships formed, irrespective of gender representing corporate firms, created much competition with 18 Foursome Teams entered, carrying the flag of leading Institutions. Softlogic Holdings PLC captured the Board Event in a thrilling count-back of the score defeating Senok Air Cargo, tied on 34 points.

Niloo Jayathilke (9) and Dihan Dedigama (16) pipped the partnership of Andy Anderson (15) and Gerard Fernando (13) on a better back nine count, locked together on 34 stableford points. SriLankan Airlines represented by two senior Captains Milinda Ratnayake and Navin de Silva were placed third with 33 points edging out Roshan Silva and K.D. Seelanatha Kuruppu of YouCabs (Pvt) Ltd on a count-back tied on 33 points.

Hangover Hostels, Access Group, Tad Lanka Holding (Pvt) Ltd, HSBC, Nations Trust Bank, Metropolitan Office, Dynawash (Pvt) Ltd, Acpices Ltd, Turf Equipment (Pvt) Ltd, HVA Foods PLC, Heritage Teas, The Wheel Work (Pvt) Ltd, Tuk Tuk Hostels (Pvt) Ltd and a second team from Softlogic Holdings PLC participated in the highly competitive Shakespeare Shield 2019.
