Overall Boys Champion - St. Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa

At the ‘Samaposha Provincial Schools Games 2019, St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa and Central College, Kuliyapitiya were crowned as Overall Champions in the Boys and Girls sectors respectively at the North-Western Provincial School Games concluded at the Sir Albert F. Peiris Stadium, Wennappuwa recently.

In the Boys category St. Mary’s College, Chilaw finished in the runner-up position and Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala ended at the third spot. Holy Family Convent, Wennappuwa and Maliyadeva Girls’ School tied in the second place in the girls sector.

The North-Western Senior Boys Championship was won by St. Mary’s College, Chilaw while the Senior Girls Championship was won by Central College, Kuliyapitiya. Maliyadeva Boys College and Maliyadeva Girls College swept the board in the Junior Boys and Girls categories to clinch the championships.

D.M. Boyagoda from Sir John Kothalawala Maha Vidyalaya, Kurunegala was adjudged the Most Talented Sportsman and the Most Talented Sportswoman award was won by P.P.I.N. Pallegama of Ibbagamuwa Central College.

The Samaposha North-Western Provincial Schools Games was participated by 2450 young athletes from 116 schools and was competed in 116 events.

The highly successful North-Western Provincial School Games was powered by CBL Samaposha, manufacturer of the nation’s popular cereal brand, Samaposha, as part of a series of separate 2019 Schools Games being held in Uva, North-Central, Eastern and North Western provinces.
