Royal College survived an early scare before recording a magnificent 41-20 victory over underdogs Science College, Mount Lavinia in their Inter-Schools Under-19 League Rugby Tournament match worked off at the Royal Sports Complex in Colombo yesterday.
The defending champions were trailing 7-10 initially but recovered well and came into their own to turn this high scoring game in their favour with a fine all-round performance.

Royal managed to snatch a 19-13 lead at half time and then went on to dominate the proceedings as they collected their points from four goals, two tries and one penalty. Even then, this was a highly encouraging performance from the lowly Science College outfit as they proved what they are capable of on the field with probably their best effort for the current season.

In fact, Science College drew first blood with an early try and surprised their more fancied opponents with a stunning performance.
However, they failed to consolidate their position in the second half and eventually replied with two goals and two penalties.
