Towards the Futuristic helms of Logistics and Management

The Department of Management and Finance of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University annually organizes the KDU Logistics Day. This is the premier event of the Department and is a collaborative programme connecting academics, university students, state sector, and industries. This year, the Logistics Day is scheduled to be held on 5th April 2019 at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), Ratmalana.

The Logistics Day 2019 is scheduled to be held under the theme of “Logistics and Operations in International Trade: The Way Forward”. The event will be graced by eminent professionals and scholars in the field of logistics and operations from the state and private sectors. The Chief Guest and the keynote speaker will be Mr. Thilan Wijesinghe, the Chairman and Acting CEO of National Agency for Public Private Partnership, Ministry of Finance and Media. Mr. Kamal Geeganage, the Associate Director-Integrated Supply Chain of Fonterra Brands Lanka will be the Guest Speaker.

While logistics and operations in international trade is a pertinent topic in the context of Sri Lanka, an intellectual dialogue is encouraged among the resource persons, invitees, and participants. There are two main objectives of the KDU Logistics Day 2019. Firstly, it is the knowledge sharing of practicalities of logistics and operations from the perspectives of experts in the field. Secondly, it is the inculcation of ideas through a panel discussion and dialogue among the guests and learned audience.

Logistics Times, the premier copyrighted Logistics Magazine in Sri Lanka will be launched for the fourth consecutive time. Moreover, a case study competition will be conducted accompanied by rewarding prizes for the winners from the corporate sponsors.

In view of the Logistics Day, the trademark event of the Department of Management and Finance of KDU, a pre Logistics Day programme will be conducted. Accordingly, with the aim of introducing logistics and operations for GCE Advanced Level students, an awareness programme will be organized by the FMSH Management Club of KDU on 13th March 2019 with industry and professional support.
